Backyard Baseball 2003 is a baseball sim, with characters that are cartoon kids, not realistic player models. Along with Sosa and Bonds you can take the playground field with Randy Johnson, Mike Piazza, Shawn Green, Ichiro Suzuki, Pedro Martinez, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and more. I don’t want my nine-year-old kid playing with Barry. Backyard Baseball 2005 features some of the greatest pros, as children, playing along with a sandlot lineup of boys and girls called the 30 Backyard Kids. Features include all 30 MLB team logos, customizable players, quick, single games and Season Play mode, Home Run Derby mini-game, full stats and standings in Season Play, multiple camera views and instant replay, unlockable fields and special players, tutorial mode, baseball darts and other mini-games. Future iterations of Backyard Sports games allow you to pick athletes to play with the kids, but Backyard Baseball has none of that nonsense. With outrageous power-ups and surprises, kids can smash homeruns, throw clutch strikeouts and have a one-of-a-kind Backyard Sports experience. Choose lineups, team logos, and awesome fields and control every pitch. Speaking of players there is a trading card book where you can learn more about the different players.Backyard Baseball 2001 also had an online mode and I am sure there is someone out there who has a server that allows. Now young baseball fans can pick Alex Rodriguez, Alfonso Soriano and 14 other stars, all playing as kids. In Backyard Baseball Major League Baseball pros join the Backyard Kids.
